One of the most valuable aspects of using the Internet for homeschooling is web-based programs and products. They can be accessed from any computer that is connected to the Internet -- either by land-line or wireless connection. Therefore, if you and your child are traveling, s/he can access a web-based product in the airport, between planes, in a Wifi cafe or even in some metro parks and other public locations! What could be more efficient than being able to take your coursework with you, having it as close as your laptop or iPhone?

Wow. I have to say, over the years, I’ve come across a great multitude of educational software offerings, but many have fallen short of my expectations. I guess that’s why I feel so fortunate to have come across this series of scientific software offered by Digital Frog, International.
As you might guess from their quirky name, the flagship product of DFI is the award-winning Digital Frog 2. Basically, it’s a virtual frog dissection program, but it’s so much more than that. Besides being a worthy alternative to mass frog extinction, the software covers the ecology of 18 different frog species, giving in detail notes about their lifecycle, behavior and biodiversity.
Piano Play Music Systems
Review By Linda Pliagas
One of the best aspects of homeschooling is being able to offer children freedom and flexibility in their curriculum. And with so many traditional schools cutting creative arts from their day, it’s comforting as a parent to know that companies like Piano Play Music Systems offer programs to spark a love of music to last a lifetime.
What makes Piano Play Music Systems unique is the fact that their programs are tailored for different ages and abilities.
Penton Overseas - Foreign Language Learning for the iPod
Review by Jeffrey Paul Oakar
With so many inferior language systems on the market, on those “blue moon” moments when a great system hits the market, it should be snapped up immediately! Such is the case with Greek ‘n’ Stuff’s Hey Andrew! Teach Me Some Greek!” The program’s main idea is to assist your family in acquiring an understanding of ancient biblical Greek (known as Koine). This is done using a system of reading and writing activities, as well as vocabulary and grammar work.
Read, Write & Type Learning System (RWTLS)
Fortunately for all homeschoolers who enjoy using their computers as educational assistants, software designers never seem to rest! There are great educational products constantly being developed for our Macs and PCs. No matter what topic one wishes to study or teach his/her child, there is a software program to assist.
Talking Fingers, Inc. is one of the most innovative software companies in the educational field. From their website: “The Talking Fingers approach is based on a simple idea: text is speech made visible! We use our mouths to talk, to make the sounds of words. We use our fingers (with a pencil or keyboard) to represent those sounds on paper. When children learn to link speech sounds with letters, they can use the alphabet code to write any word they can say. Their fingers are ‘talking’.”
The TFI base program, Read, Write & Type Learning System, is designed for grades K-3, to teach phonics, reading, writing and keyboard skills. With word-processing being so important a part of everyone’s work – whether high school or college students or working adults in all walks of life – teaching this vital skill to little
ones is an intelligent move and combining it with other study areas is even better.

Teach Your Children Proper English
ChristainSoup.com can help
Do you long for the days of the past when civility was in style? Are you tired of hearing people around you butcher the English language?
If you wish to instill fondness for proper vocabulary in your children, then be sure to include Webster's 1828 Dictionary in your homeschool library collection.
“The dictionary itself has no slang in it” explains Bonnie Noland, director of operations at www.christiansoup.com and its parent company, Christian Technologies, Inc. (www.christiantech.com). She adds: “It was written not very long after the founding of our nation. The English language of this time was close to the language of our Founding Fathers.”
