Montana Homeschooling Laws

Overview

A homeschool is the instruction by a parent of his child, stepchild, or ward in his residence.
Notify the county superintendent of schools in the county in which the homeschool is located, in each school fiscal year of the student’s attendance.
Maintain records on pupil attendance and disease immunization and make the records available to the county superintendent of schools on request.
Provide at least the minimum hours of pupil instruction in accordance with age of student.
Students between the ages of 7 and 16 years are required to receive instruction.
